I am a contemporary musician who fell in love with music at an early age. My father was a talented musician as well and he filled our house in South Korea with sounds from a wide variety of genres. He played multiple instruments and seeing his passion inspired me and lit a fire in my heart for music. I started piano lessons at age of 7 and learned the ins and outs of classical music, but something was missing. When I moved to the United States as a teenager, I discovered the chart-topping sounds of rock and pop from the big bands and taught myself the guitar. I felt a different sensation when playing the guitar, and took some lessons before attending a summer program at the esteemed Berklee College.

     It was during my time in college that I discovered the only rival for my love of playing the guitar, and that was teaching that love to others. I taught elementary and middle school students before attending the Musician's Institute, a world-renowned music college in Hollywood, in 2010. I had the privilege of learning from some of the greatest contemporary guitarists and musicians, like Dean Brown and Allen Hinds, just to name a few. I performed rock, blues, and smooth jazz in bands with my colleagues at local venues before acquiring a Bachelor's Degree in guitar performance in 2015. In October of 2017, I opened Evan's Guitar Academy in Ladera Ranch, California, where I taught multiple instruments such as guitar, ukulele, piano, bass, and drums to students of all ages and garnered a good reputation in the community. Now, under the name Evan's Music Academy, I will be introducing new programs with a new team of instructors to broaden the love for music in the new generation that lives within the community!
